NCAA 2010 Demo

June 23rd, 2009 -- No Comments

So the other day I downloaded the demo of NCAA 2010 for the Playstation 3. Now I have not played a college football game in a very long time. I never liked that there was no player names. I realize that this is due to having to pay players for rights of the name. So enough of this lets get to the review.

Basically with the demo they give you 4 quarters with 2 minutes each to either play as Florida or Oklahoma. When you start the game and you do the coin toss your are presented with an option on how you want to play. What I mean is you get to specify the type of call playing you are going to do for the series. The options you can choose from is aggressive, balanced, or conservative. You are prompted at the beginning of your series on offense or after a timeout is called. I think that this feature has changed the way to use timeouts. I remember for the longest time that all I used timeouts for was to stop the clock. Well I now have a different reason. My gameplan does not work and it needs to change.

I like the assortment of plays to choose from. I think they are different from when you play a game like Madden. the gameplay is very evened out. It is not too hard to run or pass but it is not easy either. Defense is not too hard. It is not easy to intercept but man you can strip the ball very well.

So lets get to the downfall of the game. You cannot intercept the ball. I mean even college guys who get the ball right in there hand intercept the ball. The crowd looks like a Nintendo crowd. EA really needs to get with that and fix it. The auto play calling, calls the same plays over and over again. There needs to be diversity here. Other than that it is a good college football game.

June 20th, 2009 -- No Comments

Well I am getting excited because tomorrow is the first Father’s Day that I will be a daddy. I use to think that this was a wasteful holiday but I am not sure now. So part of my family is coming tomorrow and I will be grillin up some steak. I am so excited. My cousin Rich gave me a marination to try. I hope it comes out well. I think it will. So just like mother’s day post I will get a picture of the party to post on my next blog.

iPod Touch 3.0 is Out

June 19th, 2009 -- No Comments

Well on the 17th of this month the software was released for the new iPod Touch software. Now this review is geared towards the 1st generation version of the iPod Touch. Now of course you guys know that we don’t have the bluetooth technology or the microphone capabilities. So what do we actually get with this new software? Is it worth the $10.00?

Spotlight
I say yes you should get the update. Lets talk about the features that you get that I see is worth it. The first thing I like is the spotlight integration. Its just like my Mac. I can type an application name to a word in an email. I can type a subject of a calendar event. This saves me time  because I have multiple pages of applications or hundreds of emails.

Buy Movies
I am not sure if everyone is doing this but I love to buy my movies from iTunes. I think that feature is just great. Now thru your iPod Touch you can get those movies right from the device.

YouTube Login
I create and view many videos on YouTube. I have my list of favorite videos that I like to watch. Now thru my device I can see those and not have to search for them.

There are other features that the device does but they are not major to me. If you want to see a complete list, see that on Apples site.

Coding Update

June 10th, 2009 -- No Comments

I thought I would give an update on what is going on with me learning how to code. My resume has been getting beefed up. So now what I comfortably know how to program in is the following:

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • PHP

I have tried to learn JavaScript but I am not comfortable to put that on the list. I also have messed with Action Script. I am working on getting Ajax on the list. I can do some minor stuff with it but not yet comfortable with putting that on the list.

After Ajax since that is needed to know for work purposes, I was looking to finish doing Java. I have a fellow church member who codes Java for a living and what he has talked about has gotten me excited to learn that. I would like to learn a GUI programming language so I can make cross platform applications. Well as always if you have some tips or tricks for me to help me on my journey I would love to hear them.

Safari Books Online

June 10th, 2009 -- 1 Comment

Well in past I have always wanted to use this service and never did. Safari Books Online is a service that you pay a monthly fee. Now what this service does for you is it gives you a hugh selection of computer books. They range from programming to Operating Systems. Now if you are like me I like to buy books almost every month and read them. Then they go in a bookshelf to collect dust unless there is some reason I might need it again. So go ahead and get a subscription. It is well worth it.

Gentoo

June 9th, 2009 -- No Comments

So since I am going to go to this Linux User Group meeting I thought I might have to get back into having an Linux OS. Now I am running Mac but hey I should have some form of Linux. Before I had a Mac I would run Linux with a distribution called Gentoo. Now I am sure you might say what is the difference?

Well there are different types of Distributions unlike Windows or Mac. Some are easy and some are more challenging. For beginners I would expect you them to try something like Ubuntu. Gentoo on the other hand is a little more difficult to use. You have to make more choices than other distro’s but in the long run it is better.

Multiple Programming Languages

June 6th, 2009 -- No Comments

Have you ever had to learn multiple programming languages are once? I am not talking about HTML and CSS at the same time. I am talking about lets say PHP and AJAX. Well I have too and let me tell you it is tuff. Now I do have a grasp on PHP where I am in the advance level. But still it is hard. Now I am really not a fan of the JavaScript language. I cannot understand the concept. I have tried and I have read multiple books but I just cannot get JavaScript. Does anyone have any tips for me? Can someone help me with this task? If can thank you very much.
